So now you are uber rich and you recognize that you have been afforded 3 freedoms from which you will now act.
The question then becomes: what is the best use of your time and resources?
After a while one can actually become stymied and even dispirited.
“In a multitude of counselors there is safety” and there are plenty of “counselors” who are more than willing to make recommendations on what you should do with these freedoms.
They offer these pronouncements not from a position of pensive deliberation but from lurking fantasies (“if I had your money I’d do…”).
But it takes a non-trivial amount of personal exertion to develop the psychological freedom to make decisions.
For UberMan (seriously high net worth) this is veritable kryptonite and can lead to emotional agitation if not outright depression.
For the rest of us, these freedoms are not a problem because time and money are limited; therefore our choices are limited.
Being capable of understanding the challenges of having an oversupply of time and money can prove difficult for even the most seasoned of “the multitude of counselors.”
Who do you have advising you?
